Thank you to our two volunteers so far - have fun photographing your foodweek! I'm looking forward to starting my own, but due to having to drop an unexpected amount of cash on a flight to go visit my Mom last month, I need to wait until the 14th so that I have another paycheck in the bank and can go out to eat and take pictures of quintessential German food.
There's this place that has steak topped with about a pound of mouthwatering caramelized onions. We had a couple visiting us from the UK a while back, and they treated us to dinner there on their first wedding anniversary. Despite the husband half absolutely despising onions, the wife half gleefully ordered the onion extravaganza, as did I, and we spent the meal nearly sobbing in joy with every bite. I don't think the husband half was quite so thrilled.
But there's not only German food around here, there's a whole host of other cuisines. Our first backup plan when we're too lazy to cook is Chinese takeout, and ours makes an incredible peanut sauce. I am serious about this because, in general, I don't like peanuts very much. But this is a nutty, earthy, rich sauce and I usually get it with duck, which is tender and mouth-watering. They pack a crazy amount of duck breast in, and I always eat it all before most of the vegetables because it's absolutely best piping hot.
Hungry now; signing out!

A Week in Food
Everybody eats. It's one of the few things that everyone everywhere has in common. Talking about food, exchanging recipes, cooking together, eating together -- food unites us.
I'd like to invite you to share your food for a week. It just takes a minimum of one food photo per day, a paragraph of text (or more) per photo, and one recipe (or link to a recipe) for something you've made and photographed during your week. The other requirement is that you calculate how much you spent on food that week, and donate a matching amount to a charity of your choice. If it's a food charity, I'll add the link to the sidebar as well.
You won't have to list everything you ate during the week, although the nosy among us think that's pretty interesting. You can think of it as your personal soapbox about food for a week, or a chance to test recipes you've always wanted to, or a motivation to start a new diet. Don't have enough free cash to make that donation? Divide your food budget in half, eat cheaply for a week, bitch about it in your posts, and donate the other half!
I'll start us off, of course, but I'd like to have a backlog of several weeks before starting, so that I can post continuously if possible! If you're interested, please leave a comment stating so and follow the guidelines below to send in your content when you're ready.
Guidelines
For continuity's sake, please start your food blogging on a Sunday and end on Saturday.
